Main Street Masterpieces

Main Street Masterpieces is a rotating window gallery program that transforms vacant storefronts into vibrant art displays. Curated by local artists and illuminated for nighttime viewing, each installation brings creativity and energy to Old Town while supporting our mission to make downtown more welcoming and engaging. QR codes at each display connect visitors to artist information and our community partners, turning empty spaces into opportunities for connection, storytelling, and inspiration.

Meet the Artists

Jeff Ryan

Jeff Ryan is a father, architect, artist, and designer whose creative practice explores pen-and-ink sketching, painting, woodworking, sculpture, and public murals. His work combines observation, experimentation, craftsmanship, and design, with a focus on line, texture, composition, material—and sometimes even a little snarkiness.

Jeff Ryan works in the private sector through his own architecture and design firm, 2 R Art and Architecture LLC, while also working in public service with FEMA’s Building Sciences Division, conducting post-disaster building forensics and studying how buildings perform under extreme conditions. His architectural experience informs his understanding of space, proportion, structure, and material, while his artistic practice provides an opportunity for experimentation, exploration, and making fun stuff for his kids and community.

Whether creating a detailed pen-and-ink sketch, a sculptural object, or a large-scale public artwork, Jeff Ryan is interested in making work that sparks curiosity and invites a closer, squinty eyed observation of his line work. Enjoy.

Dee Dee Volinsky

I am a local Winchester artist who has been painting in oils for 25 years. My self-taught art career was augmented by instruction from hand-picked contemporary masters, such as Jon Redmond, Maggie Stiner, Peggi Kroll Roberts, Stanley Bielen and extensively with Claudia Rilling.

I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to show my work across the state in juried shows, galleries and stores locally as well as in Richmond, Alexandria, and Washington. My work was recently included in a multi-state project showcasing Women’s Art in the region, Daughters of the Stars.

My paintings are a reflection of my love of botanicals and Nature. When I look at a subject to paint, I see it in terms of shapes of color and value, abstracted, and then put together on canvas like a mosaic. I am happiest in my downtown studio or in plein air with the smell of linseed oil and smudges of paint on my nose.
